Choose Your Next Adventure!

Below are some fun activities to help get your child comfortable reading and writing blended sounds:

Reading with Sound Balls & Letter Cards
  1. Roll Play-Doh into small balls (These are your Sound Balls)

  2. Choose a vowel card to place on the table or tray

  3. Choose consonant cards to place on either side of the vowel card. Start with either a blended beginning sound (like "flat") or a blended ending sound (like "fast"). As your child gets comfortable with these words, you can progress to words with both beginning and ending blends, like "blast".

  4. Place a Sound Ball below each of the letter cards

  5. As you sound out each letter, SMASH the Sound Ball for that letter!

  6. Then, grab all the Sound Balls and SQUEEZE them together as you pronounce the word!

  7. Replace the consonants to create a new word. When you're ready, replace the vowel with a new vowel card.
